This week, we spoke to Deborah from the UK about their experience as an eBay Expert. Let’s hear what she had to say… 

Tell us a bit about yourself

My name is Deborah and I work part-time at a local family-run kitchen company. In my spare time I enjoy cooking and testing out new recipes for my family. I also really like eating out and trying new restaurants - I try to visit a different one each month. 

What brands do you work for?

I joined eBay in 2005 as I wanted to sell some unused motorcycle gear that I found when I was moving house. I was amazed at how much money I made from the sale and I was immediately hooked! For me, the best thing about eBay has to be the unlimited potential to make money. You can earn a few extra pounds by selling your unwanted items. I love that you can use eBay to make a part-time or full-time income, or even turn it into a global business! On what other platform can you find 182 million potential customers?

What do you like about being an Expert?

I was excited when I was invited to be an Expert for eBay. It is something that I take quite seriously. When I am helping other sellers with their queries, I find that I am learning and improving my skills too. 

The best thing is receiving genuine gratitude from the people that you provide support to. It feels really positive to help someone solve a problem. Every question is different, which keeps you on your toes too. Just when you think you know all there is to know, a question will pop up that you have to do a bit more research into. It keeps things interesting!

When do you answer questions the most?

I tend to answer questions later in the evening, after the kids have gone to bed. I find this is the best time for me as it's quiet.

How are you planning to spend your earnings?

My Expert earnings are going to be my Christmas fund. I hope to have enough money to pay for all my Christmas gifts this year. I might even have some left over to treat myself!
